Ingredients:
⚫Whole wheat Bread – 4
⚫Milk – 1 cup
⚫Palm Sugar/ Brown Sugar – 1/2 cup
⚫Homemade Ghee – 4 tbsp
⚫Cardamom powder – 1/8 tsp
⚫Cashews – 5
⚫Raisins – 1 tbsp
METHOD:
🍞Keep all the ingredients ready. Cut the bread into cubes.
🍞Heat a thick bottomed pan with 2 tbsp of ghee and add cashews and raisins, fry them until golden brown. Remove from the pan once done. Then add bread cubes.
🍞Toast the bread cubes for 5 minutes or until crisp and golden brown in color. Add milk slowly.
🍞When all the milk is added, cook it on a low-medium flame for 10-12 minutes or until the bread is mashed and soft. Give a stir occasionally.
🍞Once the milk is almost completely absorbed, add brown sugar and cardamom. Mix well. After adding sugar, the mixture will release a little liquid but will thicken with time.
🍞Cook it further until all the milk is absorbed. Keep stirring in between and add the remaining ghee slowly.
🍞When the halwa forms a whole mass and doesn't stick to the pan, add the fried cashews & raisins and switch off the flame.
🍞Transfer to a dish and serve immediately.
